Plaster your campus with colorful posters using just a few facts and numbers to raise awareness of critical problems.

Every few days for a week change the facts/numbers about the issue you are highlighting. The next week, use facts and numbers to suggest solutions. You can do Facts and Numbers while tabling as well.

Tips for Success:

• Choose any important issue students care about.

• All the posters should look exactly the same. Only the issue, numbers and facts change.

• Make large posters with big, readable letters and decorations linked to the issue.

• Use bright colors to attract attention.

• Do NOT overcrowd the posters - just a few facts/numbers go a long way!!!

• Place posters in high traffic areas.

• The first week‘s posters should give scary facts and numbers about the problem. (You can change the numbers and facts mid-week).

• The second week’s posters offers facts and number re: possible solutions.

• Every poster has a Democracy Matters logo and contact info (QR?).

Examples:

• “ Do You Know the Problems with Student Debt?” (climate change, the cost of college, cost of health insurance, US defense spending, child poverty, economic inequality, etc etc.)

  • Research current facts, number and solutions for your posters

  • The average college student graduates with X in debt.

  • One in every three students won’t pay off their debt until they are 50 years old.

  • Countries including x, y and z provide free college education.

  • Free college for everyone would only cost X% of our national budget.

Optional:

• During each week, table at least once with a similar poster. Have paper and pens or a white board, asking students to comment on the poster’s information.

• Write an article for your school paper or publication about the poster campaign, giving even more information about the problem and solutions.
