Flyers, posters, table tents, and quarter-cards - colorful, simple and easily read - will grab attention for Democracy Matters on your campus.
Tips for Success:
Everything should be bright and eye-catching with large letttering.
Everything should include the Democracy Matters logo and a QR code for DM information.
Everything should have the same “look” (colors, font etc) so DM is easily recognizable.
Everything - Do not use too many words or offer too much information at once.
Everything - Leave lots of white space and make writing large enough to be readable.
Everything - Use a “hook” to catch their attention, e.g. a question “Did you know?, a picture, or a controversial statement.
Flyers
Flyers can be handed out while tabling or canvassing in dorms, dining areas etc, or just walking around campus. They can be about DM and what you do or about DM (briefly) and/or specific issues, problems or what students can do.
Posters
Posters are large, focused on giving information about a political issue or problem, and hung in strategic areas around campus to advertise DM and recruit members.
Table Tents
Table Tents look like little pyramids and stand up on tables. They need to be made with stiff paper. They are small so they have room only for a few words and a QR code. Use Table Tents let students know that Democracy Matters exists, or to tell them about a specific upcoming DM event. They can be placed on tables in dining areas, snack bars etc. where students are sure to read them.
Quarter-Cards
Quarter-cards are made by cuting an 8 ½ piece of paper into four quarters once you have printed it with the same information on each of the quarters. Quarter cards save money because you can get 4 to one page so you can print hundreds. DM members can be hand them out while tabling, canvassing, or walking around campus.
DM members can also put quarter-cards in their classrooms on chairs/desks to advertise DM events and/or meetings . Students are sure to read them when they get to class.
