voter registration campaigns
Voting Is Your Voice! Make Student Votes Count!
Help students to register, change registrations to their campus or off-campus residence, obtain absentee ballots, provide polling location/dates/times, offer information on transportation, candidates, issues, and distribute QR codes for www.turbovote.org, www.rockthevote.org, or www.vote.org.
Tips for Success:
First Year Student Orientation - Ask the Dean to help you offer voter registration to in-coming first year students at pre-semester orientation or during the semester. Ask RAs and students helping first year students to distribute DM flyers with voting information.
Tabling - Have the above registration materials and information available at all tabling. Have decorated signs or large buttons - “Ask Us About Voting”.
Canvassing - Offer to help students with registration information while canvassing - knocking on dorm rooms, walking around campus with clipbpards, standing outside the library or student union, or talking in dining halls and snack areas.
Class Raps - Ask faculty for one minute to talk about the importance of and information about voting. Hand our QR codes to www.turbovote.com
Campus Clubs & Dorms - Ask to speak at and register voters at other campus clubs. Contact RAs to speak iat and register students in dorms.
Faculty Outreach - Email to all faculty one paragraph to read to their classes with voting and www.turbovote.org information.
Events - Organize a faculty panel discussion on the coming election e.g. “What’s At Stake for Students,” or “Why Your Vote Matters.” Or invite other campus clubs to discuss what’s at stake in the election concerning their issues (science clubs, pre-med and pre-law clubs, or environment, women, students of color clubs, etc)
