class Raps

Classes are a captive audience! Ask faculty members for a few minutes to talk to their classes.

With a short, passionate talk, you can educate them and get them interested in DM! Talk about an issue, about Democracy Matters and about the importance of student voices and the vote. Write DM meeting and contact information on the board. Pass around a sign-up sheet for more DM information.

Tips for Success

  • If you have 2 minutes: Talk about what Democracy Matters does on your campus, how it is making a difference, and how students can get involved by joining with others to solve the critical problems (examples) facing us.

  • If you have 5-7 minutes: Start with a couple ofminutes describing a few problems students care about (climate change, gun violence, cost of college, voter suppression, or civil, immigrant, LGBTQ+ rights etc.)

  • Talk about yourself - How speaking up about and changing things that you feel passionate about is why you joined DM. Give them hope - our generation can find soutions and shape the future!

  • Write DM meeting and contact information on the board. Pass around a DM flyer and a sign-up sheet for more DM information.

  • Invite a DM Guest Speaker: Arrange for a DM guest speaker to visit your campus and talk with classes or hold an event.
