DORM & RA Presentations

Contact your school’s Residential Life Office to get a list of RAs, especially those for first year student dorms. Ask DM members to contact their friends who are RAs.

• Presentations- All RA’s have to do programming for students in their dorms. Contact RAs and offer to substitute for or collaborate with them to do a dorm talk about voting and voting rights. Schedule and prepare a short talk and include information and handouts about DM as well as voting.

• Voter Registration - Have voter registration materials with you or a computer (www.turbovote.org) to register students who are not registered.
  If they are already registered at home, try to get them to register at school, Legally they must re-register every time they change residence (at which point they will automatically be legally removed from their previous registration). Explain that absentee ballots are very unreliable. They are much more likely to successfully vote if they register at school.

• DM Recruitment - Tell them why you are passionate about Democracy Matters and how the club makes a difference on important issues they care about. Pass around a sign-up sheet for DM information.
