poetry slam

Organize a poetry slam, inviting students to read their favorite poems and/or original ones about life, social justice, politics, the United States, the future etc.

Tips for Success:

• Offer a prize for the best original poems.

• Serve light snacks.

• Invite Professors who teach poetry to read and/or encourage their students to attend.

• Publicize widely in social media, class raps, posters, faculty announcements in English classes etc.

• Invite or co-sponsor with poetry/English classes or campus poetry clubs.

• Offer to get some of the poems published in the school newspaper or literary publication.
