improv theater
Dressing up and acting out DM issues - making them shocking or funny - will definitely get attention. And it’s fun!
Tips for Success:
Create a short skit (2 or 3 minutes) about an issue students care about.
Act it out where students gather (outside dining hall, library etc.)
Make it simple to get your points across
Make props - signs, banners, simple costumes, noise-makers etc. to get attention and draw a crowd. etc.
Ask students and/or faculty in your drama department to help out.
Hand out information on the issue and on DM (meetings and contacts).
Examples:
-Use the DM banner as a SuperHero Cape and rush in to solve a problem (dramatize climate change, gun violence, the high cost of college etc.
Dress up as billionaires ignoring the problems of students and/or ordinary citizens. The hero raises taxes on the wealthy!
Create your own fun improv!!
