The Democracy Matters National Student Summit provides a forum for students to share ideas and best practices with one another and with other activists. The Summit’s great speakers and interactive in-depth workshops inspire and energize students to apply new ideas and organizing techniques on their campuses as they promote Democracy Matters activism.

Students at DM Summits:

  • Network, plan and develop strategies for raising awareness, taking political action, and creating campus and community coalitions.
  • Brainstorm with founder and former NBA star Adonal Foyle, with Democracy Matters staff, DM alums and guest experts.
  • Share ideas in interactive workshops on campus organizing, impactful events, social media, effective lobbying, creative messaging, social justice careers and more.
  • Explore current hot-button issues in discussion with Congressional allies, grassroots organizers, and other leaders in the national democracy movement.
  • Discuss creative ways of recruting and training new student activists with programs that reach diverse groups of students.
  • Find effective ways to tackle and push back against voter suppression, gerrymandering, big money in politics, and others\ efforts to undermine democracy and the will of the people.
