Dear Democracy Matters Supporter,
Amazing things are happening! The social movement to get big money out of politics is getting stronger every day. But we need your help.
This summer, Democracy Matters interns in both Iowa and New Hampshire followed (bird dogged) the Presidential candidates, asking them pointed questions about money in politics. They succeeded in having both Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley sign our “Democracy Pledge” to support public campaign financing, and in getting Hillary Clinton on the record saying she supports public campaign financing. Check out the press our efforts have been receiving from The Intercept, Common Dreams and others. Bernie even made a video congratulating DM students!
This picture is of Bernie Sanders with Democracy Matters students after he signed our “Democracy Pledge.”
Unfortunately, the grant that funded this work has ended. But we want to continue DM students’ grassroots organizing in these really important early states.
That’s why we are asking you to contribute to our “Restore Democracy” fundraising campaign. It will allow us to create 14 exciting new Democracy Matters chapters in Iowa and New Hampshire. We have found a donor who will match every dollar you give, so your contribution is automatically doubled. Our goal for this campaign is $12,000 – that amount will provide the $24,000 needed to establish and support these chapters.
Help us NOW to stop the1% billionaires from buying our democracy at http://www.gofundme.com/democracymatters.
Together we need to stop the wealthiest 1% from highjacking our democracy if we are to solve the problems of climate change, student debt, economic inequality, mass incarceration, attacks on voting and civil rights, and more. Democracy Matters continues to be at the forefront of this fight.
Please give generously, but any amount will help DM students push for a government that is truly of, by, and for all of us.
We deeply appreciate your support,
Adonal Foyle Joan Mandle
